Why burnout is neurobiology, not weakness
Your brain has a threat-safety thermostat. Chronic stress recalibrates it — cranking up the alarm system and suppressing your ability to recover. This is called central sensitization, and it explains why you feel wired-but-tired, foggy, and physically unwell. Much of the threat comes from working inside a health care system that forces you to live outside of your values and repeatedly triggers the alarm. Some comes from the way we have learned to react an attempt to protect ourselves.
HOW the brain wires is universal. WHAT it wires is as unique as a fingerprint.
Even in the face of things we can’t change, there is more autonomy and power within this process than you have been led to believe. With curiosity and knowledge, your way forward becomes clear.
